How to become a member
|
|
Current Membership:
- The club now has about 110 members,
some have been members for over 50 years! The majority of members
enjoy flatwater canoeing -- perhaps up to Class II. The club was founded by
canoe sailors, and there is an active contingent of sailors yet -- 17
sailing canoes are housed at the club. Whitewater and sea kayakers -- about
5 or 6. We have a number of rowing sculls hanging in club storage spaces.
- Many of our club members are avid camping
cruisers, and this contingent usually makes a number of trips each year to
distant rivers. Michigan, New York, Tennessee and Arkansas have been visited
in the recent past.
How to join:
- Any person is qualified to become a member of
the DCC, provided that he/she is of 18 years of age or older. Any
person wishing to become a member must complete and sign an application,
furnished by the Club, accompanied with initiation fees and current calendar
dues. The application must be endorsed by three members in good
standing and posted on the Club bulletin board for 10 days. At the
next scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors the Board shall take the
application into consideration. Persons elected to membership will
then be notified by the Membership Committee.
- If a person is interested in membership and
is unfamiliar with the club or its members, one may visit the Club and
participate in some of our activities. Many, but not all, activities
are open to invited quests, please call or write for more information.
